Here are some plot notes since I think a lot of people still don’t totally understand the plot details and what not. If I didn’t explain it well, I apologize.

The plot we have started is taking place just over a year after the close of Breaking Dawn, and about a month after the Calumny overthrew the Volturi. It took time for the Calumny to plan their attack, and cover all their bases. They then had to clean up the mess and tie up loose ends, plus Jane had to get into their good graces enough to be able to convince them the Cullens were a threat. She was not stupid; she did not immediately start trying that. Once things settled and she was not under as much suspicion, THEN she tried. The point in the overall plot the Calumny should in theory be right now is after Jane has convinced them- when they are planning.

On that note, please keep in mind that the Calumny are already a close knit group. Naturally, they have their differences but they also all have the same ideals, and they all look to Franz and Philip for overall decisions and leadership. Out of that pair, Franz is the one that will think things through and weigh the options. Philip will just run in and try it. Their personalities clash but also correlate for a reason- one’s faults is improved by the other’s strengths. They don’t necessarily see things that way, but ultimately that is the truth. The only real exception to any of this is Sarah. She is very timid and very submissive. She prefers to be alone only because then she doesn’t feel the need to obey everyone else’s every whim. She was raised as a Puritan in a time where the woman was seen and not heard- those ideals stick with her as a vampire, same as Edward still has his overly gentleman ways and Jasper has his military mindset. When it comes down to it, Sarah will be the weak point in the group- someone that would falter and potentially go to ‘the other side,’ The group does not necessarily know this or really think about it- she wouldn’t even know it. But given the right situation, she would be the one to desert the group. She is there because she has traveled with Tomas in the past and he asked her- he saw great use for her power. He is a male. She did not object.

The actual battle against the Volturi took months of planning. Originally, the group consisted of 10 members, plus four mates to those members. All the technical mates died- they were allowed to fight because the group wanted numbers on their side as well but they regret that decision. They now view mates as a weakness, and should any of the members ever take a mate, they or their mate will NOT be participating in any battle. They now think a mate is a distraction, and will cause their members to do stupid things and end up dying. Please keep that in mind when you are RPing- most of them will not want or need a mate. YOU wanting your character to have a mate is not really a reason for your character to have a mate or want a mate- and that applies to everyone not just the Calumny.

Of those 14 fighters starting out, 7 of them died. That isn’t really so bad when you consider the size of the Volturi as a whole, but the Calumny will be careful now. There are 7 of them left, and for that reason they did not kill Jane, Alec and Demetri like they did the rest of the Volturi. Anyone else in the Volturi, no matter how useful their power, would be a risk because their loyalty would be in question. Those three did not have that same problem overall. However, the suspicion on them and the concern still existed and certain characters, like Radu, will remain suspicious of them.

It was Radu that suppressed Jane during the battle. She, of course, enjoyed torturing anyone and everyone and thought she was untouchable. Imagine her surprise when she was crumpled to the ground in as much pain as she would inflict on others. The surprise at Jane being rendered powerless would have caused enough of a slight pause and distraction to the let the rest of the group gain the upperhand. The Calumny, overall, tends to be more if a distance fighting group than a hand to hand combat group.

Anya and Sarah remain in the far background. Anya is defense, and Sarah teleports in, makes her attack and teleports out. If she gets tackled, she can still teleport out.

Radu fights like Jane- he stands at a distance and tortures people.

Franz finds the most useful power, or the one that would harm his group the most, and absorbs it and uses it against his opponent. This is not a full absorption- it only to 65% of the power’s usefulness. He also does not permanently absorb the power. If he is surrounded by no one with a power, he essentially has no power.

Philip is able to put himself into another’s body. Often, his ‘lifeless’ body is left by Anya for protection. The person retains use of their mind, so they can try to fight him, but he has much more practice at this kind of control and it is very hard to do one thing while your body is being forced to do another. Essentially, the person becomes his puppet.

Frederick is a hand to hand combat type of fighter, and certainly very good at it. He does have the advantage of causing confusion in his opponent, however, but planting various thoughts in their minds.

Tomas essentially can induce paranoia and make someone attack their own mate, etc.

Please keep all this in mind, and the dynamics within the group. Jane is no longer the little spitfire she used to be. Any sign of her trying to become the leader’s pet again will likely lead to her demise. All three of them (Jane, Alec and Demetri) have been very much put into their place. Demetri no longer has the freedom to say and do what he wants like he used to. The Calumny kept them alive for personal use but that does not mean they are irreplaceable and indispensable. The Calumny retain close control over the three, and any signs of going against would have led to some sort of punishment to them- likely inflicted by Radu.

I hope all that makes sense, and I hope that helps set the stage for where we are at in the plot now. The Calumny should be planning their attack. The Cullens are a large coven in and of themselves, but the Calumny would know they had a HUGE group beyond that on their side. They will plan for that large of a group again, from the wolves to the Denalis to the international vampires that agreed to bear witness on Renesmee’s behalf. They will bank on the idea that the Cullens will do anything to avoid a fight, and they will strategically plan their attack on every member of the family. Despite what Philip would want, they wouldn’t just rush in and try to overtake the Cullens. They know of Alice’s power, and they would now the Cullens would prepare. They don’t have a surprise attack here and will not risk themselves more to try to get it. Also, please keep in mind that the Calumny are relatively old vampires. They are young in comparison to the Volturi, but they are all a few centuries old. They have control on their blood lust, and they are educated in the ways of the world. A human wouldn’t set them into a frenzy and cause problems for them. If they were like that, where they couldn’t be controlled, the Volturi would have received word and eliminated them long before they had a chance to turn the tables. Also keep in mind that a controlled vampire will be a better fighter- they don’t give in to things as easily.

The Denalis and the wolves have no idea of any of this yet. Even Jacob is unaware that anything is happening- he would have heard maybe in passing the Volturi were replaced but would have thought nothing of it. It will be a shock to all those groups. For the people RPing those characters please just hang in there- the plot is getting to you. The Cullens have to figure things out first.

If you guys have any other questions, please talk to me or Alice about it. We are monitoring the boards to make sure things are going smoothly and to make sure people are staying in character and following the plot. Please don’t think we are just trying to be overbearing- we just want things to run smoothly. We aren’t singling anyone out or trying to make them feel bad. But so far, things are going really great, so thanks for that guys! =)
